Nepal, geographically a landlocked
nation, is set in the backdrops of the magnificent
Himalayas with the highest peak "Mount Everest"
in its midst.

From the heights of snow-laden
landscape to the lush foothills in the tropical
lowlands, Mother Nature has blessed this paradise
on earth with a natural beauty.
Within this environment, Nepal grows that good
quality TEA which can be compared with the best
quality teas in the world.

Sometime around 1864, the
poweful Prime Minister of Nepal, Junga Bahadur
Rana, while on tour to China brought Tea seeds
as a token of gift from the Chinese Emperor
and instructed Colonel Gajraj Singh Thapa
to plant those seeds.
Colonel Thapa was then the Governor General
of the eastern region of Nepal. Colonel Thapa
with his Royal Army soon set up two plantations
- THE ILAM TEA ESTATE AND THE SOKTIM TEA ESTATE
which are now under Nepal Tea Development
Corporation Ltd. Famous Chinese Tea seeds
were planted in these tea gardens. So began
Nepal's tea industry.

Begins in the springtime
when the tender leaves yield a light, delicate tea.
This has light gold color with a gentle aroma. This
is a taste that delights everybody.
Starts when the leaves get
more matured than the first filtered varieties. The
liquor of the leaves gain more strength &. gets
brighter. The taste becomes more pleasant. This time
around, the tea delights those who enjoy their tea
strong.

Gets
a head start when the rainy season hits the
tea region by the end of June &. carries
on till the end of September. The tea during
this time contains a lot of moisture &.
develops full color &. strength. Research
shows that spring &. monsoon filterations
of tea are enjoyed more in the mid afternoons
while the monsoon flush is more of your morning
tea in bed.

Takes off in October &.
yields a group of seasonal teas called 'Autumnal'.
The autumn stages a fantastic combination of musky
flavors, tangy aromas &. an amber liquor of teas.
This time around, tea is generally drunk in the cold
winter morning with a dash of milk. |
